Who is GeniAus?
Jill Ball (aka GeniAus) is an an Australian ancestor hunter who was formerly a librarian, teacher and IT specialist. Fascinated by Web2.0 applications I spend every spare moment chasing ancestors and connecting with other genealogists.
Now that I am retired from fulltime employment and have embraced genealogy and family history with a passion I am making a concerted effort to learn as much as I can about the subject; I am engaging in a program of CGD (Continuing Genealogical Development). I will continue to be a Lifelong Learner as long as the brain holds up.
As a former teacher I enjoy connecting with other genealogists by giving presentations and sharing my skills with them on a one-to-one basis.
Apart from Genealogy my passions are my family, travel and books and reading. My growing brood of grandchildren brings much joy and keeps me on my toes. I live in a semi-rural area on the outskirts of Sydney, Australia so I enjoy the benefits of a peaceful environment (except for the sometimes raucous chorus of native birds) in leafy surroundings. Living within an hour of the CBD allows me to enjoy the facilities and activities our beautiful city has to offer.
I am a member of The Society of Australian Genealogists, The Ku-ring-gai Historical Society and The Hawkesbury Family History Group. In 2011 I was honoured with Life Membership of The Australian School Library Association (NSW).
In 2011 and 2012 I was an Official Blogger at The Rootstech Conference on Salt Lake City. I was honoured to be selected to give two presentations at Rootstech 2012. I am the Official Blogger for The 13th Australasian Congress on Genealogy & Heraldry Adelaide 2012. Details of my future talks can be found on my Presentations page.
I can be found on Blogger, Delicious, Facebook, Genealogy Wise, Google+, LinkedIn and Twitter (and a few other places) as Geniaus or Jill Ball.
